About Aptos

Aptos (APT) is a layer-1 blockchain focused on delivering high throughput, low latency, and strong security for scalable decentralized applications. Launched in 2022 by former Meta engineers, Aptos is built using the Move programming language—originally developed for the Diem blockchain project—to enable safe, fast, and upgradeable smart contracts. The network employs a novel parallel execution engine (Block-STM) that allows for high-performance processing of transactions without compromising determinism or reliability. The APT token is used for transaction fees, validator staking, and governance, positioning Aptos as a developer-friendly platform aiming to advance mainstream Web3 adoption.
