USD Coin (USDC) is a fully backed stablecoin that maintains a 1:1 peg with the U.S. dollar. Launched in 2018 through a collaboration between Circle and Coinbase, USDC is designed to offer the stability of fiat currency with the flexibility of blockchain technology. Each token is backed by equivalent cash or cash-equivalent reserves, held with regulated financial institutions and subject to regular attestations.
